Characteristics You Will Need In Becoming A Nurse

If your planning to become CNA then you will first need check if you have all the main characteristics you will need in order to succeed in this job. We have many new CNA’s joining the work force but many are interested only in the money and to be honest if this is your only goal then you might face some stress along the way. Just as in any other profession if you don’t enjoy your job then you will face many challenges a long the way. But if you enjoy your job then you will not only improve in your learning but also gain a higher position to earn more. Going back to the characteristics you will need below are a few I’ve collected from some CNA’s themselves.

Learning To Adapt

A key element to being a CNA is being able to adapt to the different environments. There are situations where you are switched from being in charge of taking care of adults to children or even both depending on where you are working. This type of situation will require you adapt to being around children as to being around adults. This may not seem as such a challenge but in the long run if your not able to surround yourself with both you might only be able to attend one age group which may affect you in your weekly income.

The Passion

If you don’t have a passion for this job I don’t recommend you join it because you might be very stressed not only by the daily tasks you are given but also by what you are required to do daily as far as paper work goes. There is a lot of paper work required to be filled at the end and during the job so if you don’t find a passion for thinking about patients and how you need to get everything done then this will be very stressing. I’m not trying to make you feel nervous or not have the desire to join the work force but this is the reality of many who join this job. Depending on what position you are given you will be assigned different tasks and if you don’t enjoy working with many different people you will as I said before face many challenges.

Patience

This characteristic is a must in order to be a CNA if your not patient many of the people you attend to will get you annoyed or cause your stress to build up. In many cases the patients can be a bit rude at times and this is where you must set everything aside and stay calm so you not only help the work needed get done but to keep your job. If you ever face any major stress use this as a way to decrease your anger when dealing with rude people.

Overall it takes the characteristics of a person who loves to help to join this job. Many might not know this but if you ever visit your local hospital you will find some very happy CNA’s and some not so much the difference? Well just go over the characteristics above and I’m sure you will find why. If your still up for the job and believe you are ready go ahead and stay focused I’m sure you will earn a position.
If your looking to find more information on this type of information you can visit http://www.nunezcna.com/ and receive some more tips.

The Tasks Of A CNA

Are you curious to learn about the daily tasks of a CNA? Well I’m about to provide you the list that I’ve collected from many different CNA’s. Now to start off many of the described tasks below are only for those of you who gain the nursing position in a hospital but I will also try to combine it with a mix of small clinic experiences as well.

Morning

To start off during the morning you will always be assigned the same task, which is to help prepare breakfast and any medical medicine needed for the patient. After this you are given a list of where you are to walk to and whom you are required to check up on. If you’re not given this task then you will most likely given the task to take a medical procedure to check if the patient is in good condition. If there is a problem and you catch it you must contact the doctor in the hospital immediately and while the doctor arrives you are to follow some instructions you learn about during your training. After everything is secure and all the patients have received their food and medication you are able to escort them to a living room. This only applies if they are in a hospital and sometimes in clinics. Although you aren’t mandatory to escort them this is only if they ask for this. Most of the time this is the case because imagine who wouldn’t be tired of being in a room with a small T.V and no one around. The last morning task would be to make the patients bed and be sure he took the medication.

Work Schedules

The work schedule you are given depends on many key points such as number of patients, hours you’re given to work, time of day etc. I’m going to explain how your schedule though out the day might play out as. Well during the day there isn’t much to do so instead you might be required to watch the patients and attend to anything they might need. After a while this can turn into something a bit stressing or boring depending on what the patient requires. But there are many ways to make the job fun you will always find one patient who stands out from the rest and is willing to tell you so much of his interesting life. Don’t keep a closed mind and listen you will find that it gets very interesting after a while.

End Of The Day

During the end of your working hours you are given some documents to fill out for patient information and sometimes even injury papers if there were any problems. This is basically the daily routine you will go through.
Yes I know it may not sound so interesting but there are so many ways to make it more fun or even honorable remember you are helping people in need who if it wasn’t for you they might be stuck with other rude doctors or people who don’t know that much about medical treatment. It’s not only a job but also a duty to help the sick and injured always keep this in mind.
If you are interested in gaining more knowledge about CNA you can also visit other sites such as http://www.nunezcna.com/ who also will give you some insight on CNA experiences.

Tips for CNAs to Maintain Good Relations with Work Colleagues

For CNAs to work in healthcare facilities and to perform the job roles effectively, it is important to maintain a good relation with the colleagues and senior staff members. The job performance is important but better job performance also needs good attributes to be displayed. Being friendly and conversant with the peers and at the same time working as a team player is important for nursing assistants as the healthcare facilities are totally dependent on the team performance of staffs members and therefore the staff members are collectively term as medical team. To perform job roles being in a team is difficult as you would be responsible for the performance of the entire team and need to share work roles of colleagues or seek assistance as well. In this course, the relation between you and your working peers will be a crucial thing to endure. Maintaining relations is something like looking to own image in a mirror. Yes, you will be treated by others according to your treat for them. I, therefore, trying to help you with some tips to maintain a healthy relation with your work colleagues.

The first thing to be done to maintain healthy relationships with peers is to behave in a disciplined way. The term ‘disciplined’ may sound vague in this midst, thus to simplify it I would urge you to follow all the codes and conducts prevailing in the facility you work. A disciplined person is always respected. Dress yourself properly and maintain all the outfit behaviors properly. Other such disciplined action should follow accordingly. Do not ever try to find faults with your peers but instead, praise their efforts. If there is a serious fault, try to suggest them in a polite way.

Secondly, act in a convincing way. It is important for CNAs to be helpful to others. For example, if your peers need some assistance from your side, do not ever hesitate to move forward. The helpfulness you show to your peers will considerably help you to get the assistance back from them upon requirement. This also increases the team spirit and essence of working with synergy.

\"Tips

Do not flirt with your peers unnecessarily. Cracking jokes during job performances makes the environment pleasing but if the jokes turn to be offensive flirts, the relations would break forever. Additionally, do not ever crack jokes on someone’s weakness but allow them to regain confidence against their weakness and assist them if needed. Similarly, being a CNA you need to be considerate to your patients as well as to your peers. Show and work for the mutual help in case of any unintended or unpredicted harms or injuries.

The additional thing you need to do is to develop a positive attitude towards your peers. Do not criticize your peers instead discuss the issues with them in a courteous way. Needless to say, other humanly traits like being conversant, friendly, cool behavior and ability to understand and feel others’ feelings and emotions will always help to maintain good relations with peers and ultimately making a good work environment.

Your First Day at CNA Job

Beginning is always tough. The first day at school, first few weeks in a new neighborhood, new classroom and new job; all of these might seem very difficult and adjusting takes some time. It is the same with adjusting as a Certified Nursing Assistant too. When you complete your training to become a nursing assistant you might be overwhelmed with the feeling. But this job is not as easy as it looks, you turn into a person who is responsible for other people and this thought might scare you a bit. You will have a stressful time as you are under the pressure of taking care of someone and submitting the report of that to your supervisors. Then, why not prepare yourself with some advices for your first day or first few days to adjust in the new environment.

Planning and knowing are the key factors that will keep you away from panicking. Know about your responsibilities, timing and shifts in advance and prepare for them. Get some information about your patients too, like their health status, their problems, their schedule and things that will help you cope with them. Knowing about them is the best thing; it will help you from getting nervous and blanking out. When you take information on the patients, do not forget to get the report of their medical history, physical abilities and disabilities, meal time, weaknesses and everyday activities. On top of that, knowing dietary orders, test results, behavioral needs, special characters, conversation obligations, safety issues are always helpful.

Find out about the patients who need special treatments. There might be some patients who need special supervision or special care. Helping them is the must as a CNA. You also do not want to risk hurting a patient at the first day of your work. Gather all the information possible from the patient’s sugar level, blood pressure and everything possible. You can ask for their charts in advance and take a deeper look at those and analyze.

Health care centers always keep a track record of their patient’s health and have all the required information on their patients. The hospitals either have handwritten or digitized information. All you need to do is ask and you will get it. Try getting a digitized form because they are well managed and are easy to look into. You might not want to be lost in the haystack of files.

Get help from colleagues, get in touch with them and share what you feel about the first day. Talk about the shifts and the supervisors you will be working under; finding about their nature are equally important. Upsetting them might not go well on the first day, would it? You can also talk to experienced employees and if you know someone personally that will be a plus point. But most of all plan and get information for your first day as a CNA.
